About Meeting Point Kampala

Meeting Point offers a range of services to men, women, children and youth infected and affected by HIV/AIDS all over Kampala and Wakiso District.

Naumowngo is one of the suburbs of Kampala City located 4 kilometers southeast of the city center. Within Namuwongo there is a slum called “Soweto” a swampy area being occupied by very poor and disadvantaged people who cannot access resources that can make them afford to live a decent and a better quality of life.

The community is inhabited by people from Northern Uganda, Congo, Rwanda, Kenya and others from Southern Sudan who over the years due to wars in their regions came to the city to inhabit the slum. The insurgence of the Lords Resistance Army, the SPLA, and the Rwandese genocidepushed big numbers of refugees to thisslum. This incidence has rendered life in this area socially challenging. So mostof the beneficiaries of Meeting Point Kampala come from this area although others are also from other parishes in the Makindye Division and different parts of Kampala District.
